For over 25 years, BCL has partnered with community and economic development organizations to manage revolving loan funds designed to support small businesses. Many local development corporations see the need to launch lending programs but may lack the internal capacity to structure, underwrite, and service loans over time.

That’s where BCL comes in.

From establishing lending criteria to servicing and reporting, our lending team serves as an extension of our partners’ staff ensuring local capital is deployed responsibly, sustainably, and with impact.

One recent example of this model in action is through a small business cohort we supported with Kingdom Capital, a faith-aligned investment firm. Through that partnership, entrepreneurs received not only access to capital but guidance, accountability, and long-term support designed to help their businesses grow.

Recently, our CEO Raquel met with JP Udenenwu, owner of JP Pancakes and a former Kindom Capital cohort member whose business continues to gain momentum. Since participating in the cohort, JP repaid his loan ahead of schedule and expanded his revenue streams through food truck concessions and major contracted partnerships with organizations like the University of Texas and Q2 Stadium, home of Austin FC.

His business now serves major community events, including the Trail of Lights, while also reaching new markets beyond Austin, such as San Antonio. It was a full-circle moment, seeing local capital fuel a local business that is not only growing, but reinvesting its success back into the community.
