Victor didn’t know where to start on his path to homeownership. With support from BCL and Homeownership Counselor Eva Reyna, he learned the tools, programs, and guidance he needed. Today, he proudly stands in front of his brand new home, a true example of BCL’s vision in action.
My journey to becoming a homebuyer started with challenges; I did not know what to do. I was divorced and did not know where I’d live. I didn’t have any money for down payment or closing costs. But most of all I did not have the information I needed to turn my challenge into a success.
When I found BCL, I started learning there were ways. Ms. Eva Reyna, Homeownership Counselor, was always accessible; she helped me sign up to get my education and certificate through the HUD certified workshop, Realizing the American Dream, she teaches. I learned so much in the class, including the requirements for different grant programs. During the class, there was also a presentation from a realtor, who was very knowledgeable on down payment assistance as well as banks that work with down payment assistance programs. After class, I switched to a realtor that cared and could help me. I was able to work with Cadence Bank and closed on my first home.
With support from a caring realtor, his mortgage lender, and the Golden Seeds Foundation providing an affordable home, Victor was able to purchase his first home. “Ms. Reyna was available every step of the way until I made my home purchase. I’d like to advise anyone who is dreaming about buying a home that it can become a reality, just do your research and take advantage of agencies like BCL of Texas that are on your side.”
